In Business for 40+ Years
East West Hair is a locally owned hair salon with over 40 years of history in Costa Mesa, Orange County.
The salon has had 5 owners, including myself, and all but the first owners were Japanese. I took over the salon from the previous owner in 2018. The previous owner had been in business for about 16 years, the owner before that for about 8 years, the owner before that for about 10 years, and the first owner for over 10 years. I went to the city to ask how long the salon had been in business, but they had no record.

From the Owner, Ikuo
Hello, my name is Ikuo, and I own East West Hair. I first came to this salon as a customer in 2004 after a friend got a very stylish hairstyle here. The former owner who cut my hair at that time heard about my experience in Japan and asked if I would like to work here.
That experience changed and enriched my life. Hairstyles contain a stylist's philosophy and can sometimes be a life-changing experience.
When I first came to this salon, it had a very nice atmosphere, and the stylists and customers were very talented, and I was really happy to work here. The customers are very cool, stylish, and kind, and the stylists get along well, respect and trust each other, and can resolve conflicts when they arise.
In these rapidly changing times, I have found the meaning of doing business here: To cherish the respect, trust, kindness to others and myself, and joy that come from the relationships created through styling hair and creating beauty.
